ふるさとの歌［11-07]

北風厳しい外ヘブリーデス

スコットランド北西部には多くの島があり、文化的にもブリテン島とは異なった点も多く、中世にはルイス（Lewis）島からスカイ（Skye）、コル（Coll）、ティリー（Tiree）、マル（Mull）、ジュラ（Jura）、アイラ（Islay）といった島々は島嶼王国（Kingdom of the Isles）を形成していました。
現在ではルイス、ウィスト（Uist）などの島は外ヘブリーデス（Outer Hebrides）と呼ばれ、西島嶼州（Western Isles）を形成しています。
その東側のスカイ、ルーム（Rhum）、エグ（Eigg）島は内ヘブリーデス（Inner Hebrides）としてハイランド（Heighland）州に属しています。マル、ジュラ島はヘブリーデスから外れ、ストラスクライド（Strathclyde）州の一部です。

これらの島々では伝統的な音楽が沢山残されていて、これもその一つです。
